WinPaste as a clipboard utility aims to increase productivity by making it easy and quick, the task of saving, searching and pasting the clipboard items. A few tips and tricks below along with the keyboard shortcuts documented in the WinPaste User Manual help achieve the same.
If you wish to select an item for pasting, the list of items in the WinPaste window is best navigated by pressing the first character (including special characters like space, punctuation marks etc.) of the item you wish to select for paste.
Resize the WinPaste window to see more information about the text clips in the main window. Upon increasing the size of the window, the number of characters displayed in the list increases.
In cases when you wish to see complete details before pasting, you may preview a clip item by selecting the desired item in the list and clicking on the preview button or the menu option 'Edit→Preview Item'. For clips with text data, formatted or otherwise, a rich text dialog window is opened with the data that can be pasted by you. If the clip item was copied from a browser and hence if the type of the clipboard data is HTML, a browser preview window is displayed.
3. Resizing and Hiding Permanent List
The splitter bar located just below the regular top list can be used to increase or decrease the area occupied by either one of the two lists displayed in the window. Just select and drag with your mouse the splitter bar to the desired position in the window to achieve this. If you wish to maximize the area occupied by the top list and remove the 'Permanent' list completely, check the menu option 'View→Hide Permanent List'.
4. Rearranging items in Permanent List
The items in 'Permanent' list can be rearranged using the left mouse button by dragging and dropping the individual items to the desired location within the list.
5. Bringing WinPaste to the foreground
Whether the WinPaste window is hidden or minimized or overlapped by another application, it can be always be brought to the foreground by pressing the default hotkey chosen or by pressing 'Windows Key + V'.
6. What if the Auto Paste doesn't work
A few applications may fail to respond to automatic paste feature in WinPaste. To paste the WinPaste selection into your application, select the clip in WinPaste, press OK to minimize/hide WinPaste. Now, activate the application in question and perform an extra menu action 'Edit→Paste' or a Ctrl+V.
The same extra procedure applies when for some reason, WinPaste fails to do an automatic quick paste in an application.
Other open clipboard utilities may hamper working of WinPaste. Hence, avoid running WinPaste and other clipboard enhancements at the same time.
