Hi Hema,
Came across your site today. There are some lovely and easy recipes that I will be trying out soon. However, I’m from Sri Lanka and most of ingrediens you’ve mentioned in your recipes are in Hindi (I guess). Appreciate if you could also give the English translations. It will be of great help for Foreigners like me visiting your site.
Thank you for sharing your recipes with us. Wish you the best.
Thanks for kind words and the feedback. Will make the changes to the existing recipes in coming days to include English translations or words which are better known. Planning to add a glossary page as well to help search for information in one place. Just drop a comment in case you still have issues after the changes. Happy to help you.
Based on the feedback provided by you, I have added a Cooking Glossary page here – http://www.sumanasa.com/indian-recipes/recipes-cooking-glossary. Check it out and let me know if you see something missing. Thanks!
Thanks Hema that would be of great help.

hi Hema,
Nice website and very nice recipes. One question, how did you name the website ’sumanasa.com’? I am curious since it is my name:-)
Is there anybody in your family with that name?
Regards,
Sumanasa
Sumanasa,
Thanks for coming and happy to know that you liked the recipes posted. I am sure you like the site name too
Sumanasa was the name proposed by my father-in-law when my in-laws were looking for a domain name. We all liked it and named the website that way. Hope this helps:) So far, no one with that name in our family… Happy to have someone with name Sumanasa on our visitor list

Hi Hema,
I went thru your recipes… very nice website containing only vegetarian dishes. I liked Akki Rotti and Missi Rotti. Helpful for beginners like me.
Thanks..
Sandhya
Thanks Sandhya for coming. I find that Akki Rotti or a Missi Rotti can be a sure hit. On a similar note, most people love Parathas and they should be easy to prepare for beginner like you. I have quite a few Paratha recipes posted on my site. Try them out when you get a chance and let me know if you liked them or need help.
Hello,
I will soon be making your Mixed Vegetable Sabji for my kundalini yoga teacher training group of 50 people. Would you please let me know how many servings are prepared with your recipe, and if there is anything I should know about making in a large quantity?
Thank you,
Jennifer
Jennifer,
The ingredients I used for Mixed Vegetable Subzi serves only 2 members. I never had a situation where I came even close to preparing for such a large gathering like yours but will give my best shot in giving you some direction here which may help. For preparing Mixed Vegetable Subzi in large quantity, increase the quantity of vegetables like Potatoes, Onions, Beans and try to use Cauliflower as well. Cauliflower will provide better taste to the Subzi.
And, be careful when deciding on the amount of Masala Powders. The quantity of Masala powder required will NOT be proportionate to increase in serving. As serving size increases, we will require lesser proportion spice powders. If you are preparing for 50 members, it is probably safe to add 10-12 tsp of Chilli Powder (add less if people are not used to spicy food) and 7-8 tsp of Garam Masala Powder, Cumin Powder – 5 tsp and Coriander Powder – 5 tsp. Prepare Tomato Puree by grinding 12-13 tomatoes, so that you can obtain sufficient amount of gravy. Then try to taste the Subzi during preparation and then decide if you feel to add more spices add it depending on your preference and the guests. Hope this helps. Good Luck with Mixed Vegetable Subzi and let me know how it comes out! Let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hema
